The Index Origin Story
Index has developed a traceability platform that uses inert genetic barcodes, which are bioengineered into baker’s yeast. This results in a unique, identifiable and traceable microscopic product called BioTags®. The genetic barcodes are non-coding and stored within Trailhead, our digital registry software that links the BioTag® to products and the supply chain. There are no genes introduced. There are no genes modified. The BioTag® registry data is flexible and updatable. BioTags® are applied/mixed with any product in trace amounts — <parts per million — at any point in the supply chain. BioTags® are inactive, or not living and therefor incapable of growth. They do not effect the product they are tracing. BioTags® are detectable by the same PCR technology used to detect COVID-19. BioTags® have even been integrated with Ethereum, a leading blockchain solution, to create the first customizable Bio-NFT — more on that to come. To learn more about Index Biosystems, click here.

BioTags® Enable Predictive Modeling That Goes Beyond Traditional Data
BioTags® empower food safety professionals to move beyond searching for a “needle-in-a-haystack.” They transform predictive modeling by generating high-resolution mapping that contains +100,00x more detectable data/gram, compared to pathogenic data.
