Verify the quality and safety of your feed with quantifiable BioTags™
Animal feed is a complex product with many ingredients that are difficult to trace from their source-of-origin, through manufacturing, to the finished product. Commodity ingredients are often co-mingled for transportation and forfeit their provenance as a result, which can be incredibly costly in the event of feed contamination. It’s not easy to quickly identify where contaminated ingredients have originated from, and where they have since been distributed.
Another challenge lies with the verification of low-inclusion feed additives and medicinal ingredients that are often linked to a price premium. These ingredients can be challenging to detect on their own, and so a reliable method to detect the presence of individual ingredients and their source-of-origin is incredibly valuable to ensure quality control. BioTags can be applied to any ingredient to prove its identity and ensure the inclusion of premium ingredients in your finished feed, as well as validate source-of-origin guarantees to mitigate risk.
BioTags are a natural feed ingredient tracer that act as a microscopic barcode to authenticate and trace individual ingredients and finished products. They are mixed with or sprayed onto a product, and can withstand common feed manufacturing processes. Using common molecular techniques, BioTags can be identified on-site or in a lab at any point along the supply chain. Unique sequences are stored in the Trailhead™ Digital Registry, providing a secure link between a physical feed ingredient and its digital supply chain.
